Context
Small merchants and micro-retailers are fast losing market share to e-grocers that deliver instantly. In a partnership with Unilever and Mosambee, IDEO set out to help these micro-retailers effectively compete with the rising competition, find financial resilience, and future-proof their stores.
With a team of designers and developers, we worked across 3 phases to conceptualise and launch the product. Together we launched the Zyadashop app - a digital storefront to help retailers go online in matter of minutes and serve their customers easily.
The challenge of taking traditional retailers online was no easy one, and special care was given to reducing upfront effort for digitizing catalogs, making everyday inventory management seamless and making the app experience intuitive for users with varying digital, textual and numerical literacy.
As the lead product designer, I was responsible for conceptualizing the MVP, conducting user research, leading a team of designers to build end-to-end flows for key features, full stack development with the technology partner, and finally piloting with the operations team.
Impact
The Zyadashop app is live on app store, and currently has 50,000+ active merchants with a GTV of INR 2 Cr.
The app was also recognized by Google Playstore as one of the best Indian apps in 2022.
